Tripp :: Four Months Old

Tripper Boy.... you are getting so big! Here we are a third into your first year of life, and we are just having a ball getting to know you. You are just the sweetest little snuggle bug (emphasis on the snuggle) and your precious countenance is just out of this world. We LOVE having you in our family... you have added so much joy and meaning to our days. Daddy, Eleanor and I couldn't love you any more than we do - you have completely stolen our hearts! This month was so fun getting to know you even more. Now that you have more wake time, we just cherish the time spent with you.... call it hormones (because I will), but Momma has already shed a few tears with how fast you are growing and the changes that you have made in the last few weeks. There is nothing better than snuggling you, precious one, and every day you are getting a bit more independent... exciting to watch, but sad for this Momma who loves nothing more than cuddling you!
Unfortunately, you had your first ear infection this month. You caught a little cold from Eleanor and your immune system didn't quite kick it without getting to your ears first. You are NOT a fan of medicine, so it was a real fun 10 days trying to get you to take it.
When we were at the doctor, they weighed you at 13lbs 11oz... and that was about 2 weeks ago! We have your 4 month checkup next week and I can't wait to know how much you weigh and how tall you are. You are GIGANTIC compared to your sister at this age, and We LOVE IT! You are all boy!
You are wearing size 3-6 month clothes and size 2 diapers.
Your schedule is definitely a work in progress.... we have just let you do whatever you want for a little too long. Probably because you are the second born, but your naps are definitely more like cat naps during the day and around the time of your ear infection you started waking up in the night.... so, mixing the two of these together just made for tiring days and nights for Momma. For the first 3 months of your life, I really was getting consistent 10pm - 6am sleep. Needless to say, your waking up at 3ish in the morning was not a welcome noise. However, that only lasted about 5-6 days! We are back on track with you sleeping from 10pm - 7:30am!
You wake up at 7:30 for the day and currently we have set your schedule to eat at 7:30, 10:30, 1:15, 4:00, 7:15 and 10:00pm... you don't eat very much at your dream feed, so I bet we are close to weaning from that (maybe in the next month or so!). You nap from 9:00-10:00, 12:00-1:15, 2:45-4:00 and still take a small cat nap from about 6:15-6:45pm. We have you down for the night at 8:00 (you sleep through the 10pm feeding)!
You FINALLY take a bottle... let's just say that we worked hard to get you to do this! We offer you bottles every night for dream feed and you take it without skipping a beat. During the day, however, you are not as easy going. So far, Momma is the only one that has been able to get you to take a bottle if you are awake... sweetheart, that defeats the purpose.
You have officially moved out of our bedroom... again, this Momma cried. I love having you near, but seeing as you are a big boy and FOUR months old, it was time to let you move to your own room. I LOVE your room and can't wait to get it completely finished... the bedding is amazing, thanks to Dot-Dot!
We put you in the church nursery last week for the first time, you did amazing and this Momma cried, again. Noticing a trend? Yikes. I have to get it together.
We have done a few walks in the Double Bob Stroller with you and Eleanor... currently, you are NOT a fan. I think it is because you are used to looking at one of us when in the stroller and you can't see us? Who knows, but walks are one of our favorite pass-times so, again, you will figure it out.
When you are awake, you love to play on your mat, sit in your bumbo, ride in the swing (which puts you to sleep) and "talk" to Momma and Eleanor. You have started to blow raspberries and bubbles. You love to squeal and we can get your laughing hard by smooching your cheek and ears. You love bath time and your little buddha belly and leg rolls are just too much. LOVE.
Nothing brightens your eyes or makes you smile like Eleanor.... the two of you together is the most fun thing for this Momma to watch. You are best friends already. Seriously. She hugs, "holds" and kisses on you all day and you LOVE it. Oh that it would always be that way!
You haven't quite mastered rolling over, but you like to get to your side and just hang out. You do, however, have houdini skills and every morning you are completely out of your miracle blanket (like the blanket is no where near you) and you are facing a different direction. Since you do not take a paci, we do not swaddle your arms for naps or bedtime any more to that you can soothe yourself if needed.
It is so beautiful outside now, and although I didn't take many pictures, most afternoons are spend either on walks or playing at the park or in the backyard on a blanket.
You love to chew on your hands. I would say that I think you are teething because of the amount of drool and hands that are constantly in your mouth, however, I always assumed that with Eleanor and she didn't pop a tooth until she was a year old. So I will wait until I see a pearly white before I make those guesses with you :).
Buddy, your piercing blue eyes and huge dimple on your right cheek completely melt my heart. You are a precious little booger that needs to learn to nap better, but other than that, we have no complaints. Well, maybe one.... time is flying by too quickly with you. How did my precious newborn already hit 4 months old? Tripper boy, at this rate, you will be going to college in a few weeks.... Thank you, Jesus, for trusting us with this precious little guy. We are so extremely grateful for Tripp, what a blessing and joy he is to us. We love you, little boy.

Rector 2.0

So, on April 2, 2011, I woke up to this... I immediately showed Eleanor to confirm... "Momma, are you kidding me??!!" So, we held off telling our families until Easter and had a great plan to reveal Eleanor as the BIG SISTER at the dinner table... we didn't think about that lunch was right after her nap, so she was a little groggy and looks unhappy, but we couldn't keep it anymore.... So a few days later we tried to take some pictures again to prove that Eleanor is VERY excited! We can't wait to meet you, Baby Rector #2!! As of now, we look forward to November 22nd when you will enter this world... (you are due December 1, but because I will have a C-section, you birthday is currently scheduled for November 22!)... but we are SO thankful to the Lord for your life as you grow inside of Momma right now and we are praying FERVENTLY for you... same as we did for your precious, big sister... healthy baby, who chooses Jesus at an early age and never once doubts that Mom...

Just Mauied...

So... in the spirit of the final blog about our wedding - it is time we move on to more important things for the blogger world hear about - it is only fair that we share some of our amazing honeymoon! Us, and about 5 other honeymooning couples on AA Flight 6 on October 12, 2008, journey to the honeymoon capital of the world -- MAUI!! One of the things I regret most is not taking up Mindy's offer and bring along her legit camera - we really did a bad job at capturing the best vacation ever, but we'll remember.... It all started here - the most magical sendoff I could ever imagine for my wedding.... and there we go... off to start life together as Mr. and Mrs. William Rector...! Dum Di Dum Dum....the next day (check out my awesome ratted hair) We had to get up at 7am to catch our flight - note: this is NOT recommended for anyone getting married-- either leave after noon or the Monday... wow that was rough! On-board AA Flight 6 direct to Maui! BJ and I cruising to our hotel in o...

ALOOOOHA....

T hat's right friends - we are packing our bags and taking a little BABYMOON next month. BJ surprised me last week and had this little ditty all worked out... ...In fact I did work out all the details, only to rework them a week later after the final go-ahead from Karen. Her rationale was appreciated and wise, albeit not well recieved at first. I called her the fun-killer. Ironic I know... "I'm a fun girl!" her famous self proclamation. (this portion written by BJ) N ot going to lie - when BJ first told me about this trip I was a little stressed (it's the planner and realist in me)... I mean, our life is crazy - and obviously finances are about to go haywire when we get into our new house and bring baby home... but as a good reminder, I have been brought back down to earth in realizing that there will ALWAYS be an excuse, we have more freedom now then we probably will ever again and God has ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS been our Faithful provider... we have the funds, so i...
